A note from our Chair of ACADEMY COUNCIL
Dear parents,
On behalf of the School’s governing body, I hope that you all enjoyed a peaceful Easter break with your families. In February I became Chair of Governors for St Benedicts and I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me. I am Cedric Duval, a father of two children in school (Y2 and Y3), and a Lecturer in Medicine at the University of Leeds. I have been a parent governor (2018-19), and a Foundation governor (2019+). Throughout the coming terms I hope you will enjoy the opportunity to hear from my fellow governors and more about our role within the school.
On behalf of St Benedict’s, I would like to thank our former Chair Andrew Russell and Foundation Governor Catherine Moxon, who have both worked extremely hard serving the board for many years. The effort and commitment they have shown has been truly appreciated and we wish them well for their future endeavours. Following changes to the governance team, we will have some vacancies which will be advertised in due course, and I ask you consider this opportunity to become further involved in our school. A role as a school governor is a wonderful way to serve our community, through the management of the school (strategy, policy, budget, staff) to ensure all our children receive an excellent education.
As we reach the final term of the academic year, I am sure we are not the only family who will be thinking about organising the new school uniform. Following on from the parent consultation, the governance team’s priority is to use the results to develop a consensual policy that follows government guidelines whilst ensuring that the smart standards are maintained within the school. We really appreciate the parental feedback and will be working hard to have a policy finalised before the summer holidays. Finally, I am always happy for parents to approach me on school matters either informally or formally so please feel free to get in touch if there is anything you would like to discuss or have considered by our governing body.
Sincerely, Cédric
